San Marino Estate
Private Residence
Old World European ambiance, combined with premium professional appliances, creates the perfect kitchen for home cooking and entertaining in this 1917 Italian Renaissance revival estate designed by G. Lawrence Stimson.
The subtle and elegant palette of sage green and light taupe begins with a large scale limestone floor laid in a varying staggered joint pattern. Martinique limestone countertops frame the biscuit farmhouse and hammered brushed nickel sinks. A hand-glazed treatment finishes the furniture-grade cabinets that are fitted with pewter hardware while the walls and coffered ceiling also received a delicate hand-painted touch.
Most of the appliances have cabinet panels and appear to integrate as furniture into the room such as the pair of armoire styled spacious refrigerator and freezer towers that are adjacent to a microwave and combination steam / convection oven. The exception is the black range, which is highlighted by a backsplash of celadon interlocking ceramic tile, a Venetian plaster hood, and custom designed hand-carved corbels.
The island is designed to maximize platter display for buffet style dining and includes both warming and refrigerated drawers, along with French oak and leather counter stools.
Upper glass cabinets, featuring artisanal porcelain dinnerware, contribute an overall impression of lightness and delicacy to what is a fully functional workspace; both for the home cook or a professional chef.
